basement ABACUS PRESENTS DEATHPODAL / Go Lebanon
Abacus presents Deathpodal + Go Lebanon + The Bitter Image.
Deathpodal is a solo music project by Alastair J Chivers. His debut EP was officially released on 29 March 2010, on independent label Electropapknit Records. Upgraded to a full multi-instrumental five-member band for live performances, Chivers brings his fragile, splintered songs to life by way of forcing them through occasional blasts of dissonant sonic-therapy. Described as "at turns very beautiful and beautifully scary!", having such revered artists as Slint, Unwound and The Microphones as reference points can be no bad thing at all.
With support from Go Lebanon, adventurous Manchester chaps who bring the noise, like Zappa meets Swans. Or not at all. Either way, Bono would NOT approve.
And opening, The Bitter Image, hunka-chunka melodic rock from York's standard-bearers of the hard rock sound.
