Morricone In Love! Live music to Italian 60s films. Triptastic!

In a fusion of live music and cinema, f’eatre explore the haunting wordless female vocal and the psychedelic lounge trip of Ennio Morricone’s cult Italian ‘Giallo’ genre film scores of 1968-72. Expect a triptastic mix of hypnotic jazz rhythms, bossa beats, soaring soprano and avant garde expressionism – all to a stunning backdrop of the original film visuals. Think Alain Delon wrestling 6ft black eels on the Sicilian Coast, tranced out 60 yr olds in psychedelic orgies, lesbian dream sequences, beautiful women found dead in fridges...Yes, it's all sex and death in the wonderful world of Morricone in Love!

F’eatre are the extraordinarily talented Fiona Staniland (producer, chanteuse) [Je t’aime Serge Gainsbourg, Darlene Mietrich], long time collaborator, Nick Ramm (musical arrangements, keyboards) [Cinematic Orchestra, Fire collective], who team up with a superb group of musicians form the London jazz scene: Alex Keen (basses) Jon Scott (drums), Jon Gingell (guitars) (FELA! at National and Sadlers Wells, Sister Bliss] and Gerry Hunt (clarinet, flute, sax, trumpet).

After the Spaghetti came the Dessert! The genius Spaghetti Westerns soundtracks which Ennio Morricone scored for Sergio Leone, form only a small part of Il Maestro’s prolific 500 film soundtrack career. After the commercial success of Once Upon A Time In The West, Morricone vowed “never to make any more films with horses” and focussed on other genres such as peculiar “Giallo” thrillers, horror and erotica. During 1968-72, with a team of Italy’s best solo musicians and his long term singer muse, Edda dell’Orso, he produced some of his most beautiful music. Morricone’s strong melodies, psychedelic grooves, bossa nova lounge and brilliant hypnotic jazz rhythms were set alight by Dell’Orso’s haunting wordless female vocal: a singer whose splendid vocalise was equally at home producing soaring soprano as sexy humming, girlish giggles and avant garde expressionism, all delivered with sublime, relaxed artistry. The results were heavenly.
