This is far from a typical Jazz 'Drums/Sax/Bass Trio'.
Although the trio have strong melodies, supported by rumbling bass lines and a strong kick and snare with enough clout to keep almost everything aligned, a lot of the music is improvised and features electronics, with each player taking chances to man the helm.
With drummer Kwake heavily influenced by Hip-Hop, Shabaka Hutchings a Multi-Reedist is a Free-Improvising musician, and Karl Rasheed-Abel lays strong foundational bass-lines and forcibly breaking them apart.
The trio lends itself to Folk, Hip-Hop, avant-garde with a bit of Rock.
Enough for everybody, and maybe too much for some….
