Boundary pushing young Gnawa Master Simo lagnawi has been tearing up the London 'World music' scene, bringing Gnawa fusion to new heights.

Weaving the ancient African musical form with Jazz, Electronic, Blues, Folk, Funk, Samba, African drums, music from India, Japan, England and Latin America.

Recently signed by World Music Network, Amadou sings soulful, bluesy songs with an honest intensity, singing in English, French and Wolof, the language of his homeland Senegal in West Africa.

He was a member of the Senegal National Band for seven years, during which time he played percussion for some of the world’s greatest musicians including Youssou N'Dour, Cesaria Evora, and Jimmy Cliff.

Now fronting his own band, his voice has a deep, breathy tone, then soars into a plaintive falsetto that makes your heart sing.

Griselda Sanderson, of Scottish Roots, has had a Sunday Times top World music album and in this pairing, adds colour using the nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle) and violin.

Together they weave like swooping swallows to create an intimate music with lovely dynamics and subtle colourings.

Followed by the incredible Afro-vinyl DJ masters VOLTA 45 and CHIEF COMMANDER YAABA.

8.30pm till 1am £6 / £5 Concs.
