IT’S A GATSBY SWING THING!
Feat. KINGS CROSS HOT CLUB + THE SMOKEY TAPS
Well whaddya know - our monthly ‘swingdig’ just so happens to fall upon the release-weekend of Baz Lurman’s THE GREAT GATSBY. Praise be! Let’s have a massive double whammy party! So to celebrate, we’ve got not one, but two incredible swing bands lined up for a long-haul, cocktail-filled bonanza...
The Kings Cross Hot Club’s oeuvre is a veritable cacophony of Manouche swing, Parisian musette, criminally forgotten pre-war melodies and even some things they wrote themselves. A curious collective comprising some of the most indefatigable musicians in London collected for over 10 years, seeking to bring live music back to it's raw essence - with every song played as though it were their last.
The Smokey Taps are a new swing supergroup, combining powerful vocals, dynamite rhythm and heavenly horns...Dynamic and entertaining, The Smokey Taps play high-energy swing and gypsy jazz and have a blinding reputation for getting the whole joint swinging!
