The seventies are upon us movers and groovers… dust off your platforms and squeeze on those flares, it’s time to point to the sky! Founded 20 years ago by singer/guitarist/composer Emrys Baird, bassist Andrew Kremer, drummer Steve Taylor, guitarist Brian Neil with Indian/UK-producer Nitin Sawhney – we have SOUL IMMIGRANTS.
Classic seventies funk, but with a fresh worldly edge.
Like "Jamiroquai" and "Incognito" the group tries to make their own original, but intelligent Pop music built on a fundament of Soul, Funk - and their ethnic roots (most members are from a foreign background with roots in the Middle East, Brazil and Australia.
Some of the guys have even playedwith James Brown's former horn section The J.B's.
amongst a whole host of other greats.
We’ve picked a good one here we have.
"Jazz/funk fusion at its most sublime." -- Music Week.
"The Soul Immigrants makes multicultural funk grooves at its finest" -- Time Out.
