A true Brixton and London landmark, and a cornerstone of one of the world’s most vibrant communities, The Ritzy has been at the heart of the city’s film scene for decades - and the café and bar the scene of many an evening to remember!
In 2009 the ground-floor front of house areas were lovingly refurbished to create a new bar and kitchen. Open from 8.00am, its menu covers delicious pastries and croissants alongside the increasingly in-demand Full English, Eggs Benedict, and French and Cinnamon Toast!
Later in the day, the new bar offers a great range of beers, wines and spirits, as well as an extended menu that covers pizzas, salads, sandwiches, plus more substantial meals such as Jamaican Curried Goat, Poached Salmon in Saffron Broth and the famous Ritzy Burger. For those with a sweet tooth, we have Chocolate Ganache Tarte and White Chocolate Cheesecake.
The recent works also extended to what was the first-floor café, which has been spectacularly transformed into a dedicated bar and events space with increased capacity and multimedia capabilities. ‘Upstairs at The Ritzy’ launched in August 2009 and has since enjoyed many a jumping evening of cutting-edge reggae, folk, jazz and world music, as well as DJ nights, a Film Quiz, and an increasingly popular comedy night – Ritzy Crackers – which has so far seen some of the stand-out acts from this last years’ Edinburgh Festival led by our brilliant compere Dan Atkinson.
Quiet evenings having a bite, thought-provoking afternoons with a film, and crazy nights Upstairs… The Ritzy covers them all!
