Synopsis

From acclaimed director Meirelles (CITY OF GOD, THE CONSTANT GARDENER) and award-winning screenwriter Peter Morgan (THE QUEEN), this sprawling, multi-stranded epic takes a fatalistic look at the state of modern love.

A series of loosely connected narratives plays out across continents, including the stories of an out-of-love wealthy London couple (Law, Weisz), a recovering alcoholic (Hopkins) on a journey to Brazil to identify what may be his daughter's remains, and a naive girl (Siposová) coaxed into high-end prostitution by a charismatic pimp in Vienna.

Taking in locations as diverse as London, Paris and Rio de Janeiro, featuring an international A-list cast, and beautifully lensed and edited to draw out the links between disparate lives, this is an ambitious, challenging and ultimately moving work.
