Taking its name from a Serge Gainsbourg song, Katell Quillévéré’s LOVE LIKE POISON is an exercise in accessible, avant-garde cinematic chic.
The story centres around the coming of age of a small-town teenager named Anna (newcomer Augarde), who returns from her Catholic boarding school to her home in Brittany for the summer to find her family torn apart by religious conflicts.
She finds comfort in the company of her grandfather and a local boy named Pierre (newcomer Leboulanger-Gourvil). With her personal beliefs being challenged by her own sexual awakening, Anna must face up to a choice that could put her on a new path in life. A tender and elegantly realised exploration of love and faith.
