Synopsis

Lisa Aschan's SHE MONKEYS is an intense and taboo-challenging drama about teenage sexual awakening with powerful, naturalistic performances from its young actors.

When Emma tries out for the local voltige (horseback acrobatics) team she befriends the attractive and confident Cassandra, but feelings of jealousy, competitiveness and sexual attraction have them pushing each other to their limits. Unconstrained by political correctness, the film encourages a perceptive assessment of teenage sexuality where gender is both a weapon and a toy.
