The next of these thought-provoking events is a showing of James Cameron’s space-action masterpiece ALIENS. Big-budget special effects, swiftly paced action, a distinct feminist subtext from writer/director Cameron, and a whole brood of acid-blooded xenomorphs all combine to turn this sequel into a seven-time Oscar-nominated blockbuster. Following the screening, there will be a discussion led by the astronomers of the Royal Observatory Greenwich: what is the real science (or otherwise) behind the film?
