Greenwich Picturehouse and the Royal Observatory Greenwich present Science Fiction?, a series of entertaining screenings and discussions exploring the facts and fiction behind some of our favourite films.
In 1956 FORBIDDEN PLANET changed the face of space-based sci-fi forever. The astronomers from the Royal Observatory Greenwich will be on hand after the screening of this landmark film to delve into ideas of sophisticated robot companions and human-led interstellar travel. They will also explore how FORBIDDEN PLANET shares more in common with Shakespeare’s The Tempest than it does with any of the science-fiction films that came before it.
