We really love cinema here at The Gate, and we think you do too. Our Reminiscence events give us an opportunity to pick our favourite films and put them back on the big screen. This month we have chosen the film that launched both Jean-Luc Godard's career and the French New Wave, BREATHLESS - a hugely influential film in subject, tone and construction.
“An enervating intro to the French New Wave, this remains one of Godard's finest films.” - Empire Magazine.
"There is simply no other film which demonstrates so perfectly what it feels like to be young and in love." - Philip French, The Guardian.
“If you've never seen BREATHLESS, see it now - but don't expect an easy ride. If you haven't seen it for ages, see it again and be surprised at the fresh reactions it provokes.” - Dave Calhoun of Time Out.
So join us in celebrating amazing cinema, and please recommend any other films you'd love to see, either on Twitter or on our Facebook events page.
(And before we forget, there's free tea or coffee for ticket-holders at our Reminiscence events. We may even provide biscuits!)
