Khodorkovsky

Germany 2012, 111 mins
Director: Cyril Tuschi

This incredible documentary recounts the dramatic events that unfolded in February 2003, after Russia's richest man, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, challenged President Vladimir Putin over alleged government corruption during a live televised debate at the Kremlin.

This public act of dissent led to the two titans locking horns, with Putin threatening Khodorkovsky with a lengthy prison term upon his return from exile. Remarkably, Khodorkovsky returned head held high to meet his fate.

German director Cyril Tuschi approaches this extraordinary personal journey with compassion and curiosity, painting an intimate portrait of a complex figure whose passage from socialist dreamer to celebrity inmate would capture a nation's imagination.
