Filmed over a period of five years in 25 countries on five continents, SAMSARA surveys the varied worlds of sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial complexes and natural wonders through the eyes of gifted director Ron Fricke.
The film consists entirely of breathtaking cinematography and cinematic landscapes from around the globe, captured by Fricke with his own personally developed 65mm cameras.
SAMSARA explores the wonders of our world from the mundane to the miraculous, looking into the unfathomable reaches of humankind’s spirituality and the human experience. Neither a traditional documentary nor a travelogue, it takes the form of a non-verbal guided meditation. Through powerful images, the film illuminates the links between humanity and the rest of nature, showing how our life cycle mirrors the rhythm of the planet.
Coming almost 20 years after his similarly dreamlike BARAKA, SAMSARA is a visually arresting and truly unmissable cinema experience.
