A CLOCKWORK ORANGE at Cinema City

A special one-off screening of Stanley Kubrick's controversial classic with a post-screening discussion.

A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (18)

Sunday 5 February, 6.45

Protagonist Alex is an "ultraviolent" youth in a futuristic Britain. As with all luck, his eventually runs out and he's arrested and convicted of murder and rape. While in prison, Alex learns of an experimental procedure in which convicts are programmed to detest violence. In exchange for undergoing the procedure his sentence is reduced and he is back on the streets sooner than expected. But his ordeals are far from over once he hits the mean streets of Britain that he had a hand in creating.

We are delighted to welcome Peter Kramer to introduce the screening. Peter is Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at UEA. His book on A CLOCKWORK ORANGE was recently published by Palgrave Macmillan as part of its ‘Controversies’ series.
