The Cambridgeshire Film Consortium was founded in 1999 and is a partnership between Anglia Ruskin University, Arts Picturehouse/City Screen Ltd, Cambridge Film Trust which organises the Cambridge Film Festival, Parkside Federation (Media Specialist College), Long Road Sixth Form College and Cambridgeshire ITC Education Service. It is core-funded by Screen East.
The Consortium aims to encourage increased participation in a broad range of high-quality, film-related activities to benefit the local and wider community and to this end employs Trish Sheil, a full-time Film Education Officer. She programmes a range of activities and events including archive screenings, introduced screenings, evening courses, production workshops, festival screenings and lectures.
The Consortium has managed funded projects such as the Heritage Lottery-funded World War II Inter-Generational Reminiscence Project with care homes and primary schools in 3 Cambridgeshire villages. It also managed the Grains of Sand Climate Change Film Competition with support from Anglia ITV Local, Cambridge University Climate Change Programme for Industry, Cambridge City Council Sustainable City and Cambridgeshire County Council Arts Development team in which young people across Cambridgeshire produced films for a prize-giving event in July 08 at the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse
Details of the Consortium’s events can be found on the website www.cambridgeshirefilmconsortium.org, in the termly education newsletter sent to schools and colleges in Cambridegshire, and in the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse brochure.
