Bury St Edmunds Festival Films
As part of the Bury St Edmunds Festival, running from 19 to 29 May 2011, the Abbeygate is proud to be showing a week of films with a musical theme.
Following their live performance at the Apex, we open the season on Friday 20 May with BENDA BILILI!, a fascinating film about the band's fairytale rise to fame.
Wim Wenders' enthralling and seductive BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB, the Chet Baker documentary LET'S GET LOST and WHEN THE ROAD BENDS: TALES OF A GYPSY CARAVAN follow.
After the performance of BRASSED OFF on Thursday 26 May, we welcome the Stowmarket Concert Band who will be entertaining one and all.
Finishing off the week are JAZZ ON A SUMMER'S DAY; John Schlesinger's classic film about composer Richard Rodney Bennett, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD; and LEONARD COHEN: I'M YOUR MAN.
