Rising British soprano Sally Matthews makes her Glyndebourne Festival debut as the Countess alongside Italian baritone Vito Priante in his debut as Figaro.
Live: Since 1934 an interval of 90 minutes has been part of the Glyndebourne experience. Time enough for a three-course meal and a walk through the grounds, it became a tradition long before broadcasting opera to cinema audiences was ever conceived.
For the many people now enjoying opera at the cinema, 30 minutes is a more realistic length of time to take a break. 'Live from Glyndebourne' means that we start our cinema transmissions a little after curtain-up at Glyndebourne and, by the end of the interval, we have caught up, joining Glyndebourne live for the remaining acts and curtain-down.
